He said "well right..."

He said:  “well, right, but that’s what she said.”

And I’m not sure what he meant when he said that

So I said “ You mean, she said that’s what he said. She didn’t say anything else instead... “

“ I don’t know what he said, just what she said he said”

“Yeah, but she would say that” he said.

“I know she’d say that,” I said.

“That’s just the sort of thing she’d say.” He said.

“If only we knew what she said and not just what he said she said.” I said.

“That’s just what I said she said!”

But it didn’t make it any clearer.
